Data Platform Consultant

Description

Some key objectives of this role are to ensure that;

  • Assessing clients’ needs and suggesting solutions
  • Deployments, both for customers and for internal purposes (e.g. demonstration), are maintained and fully documented
  • Build systems in use are maintained, consistently available and make use of any tools most appropriate for Mango needs
  • Customer support requests receive timely response, resolution and delivery of updates
  • Managing stakeholder expectations
  • Working with customers to set up and configure Mango’s developed software and third within their specific environment
  • Ensures that systems are architected in a reusable, scalable and maintainable fashion

 

Responsibilities

The duties required to achieve the objectives described above are summarised here:

 

Application installation and configuration

  • Provision development, test and production server environments
  • Installation and configuration of Mango and Third Party software
  • Liaise with customers to set up and configure application servers and server environments
  • Liaise with customers to configure Mango and third party software for use within their environments according to their requirements

 

Application Issue Resolution

  • Logs, escalates, tracks, and resolves environmental, application, systems, database, alerting, and monitoring issues
  • Conducts root cause analysis and service disruption reporting
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and fix operational issues with software deployments in development and customer environments
  • Documents and manages reported technical support issues
  • Responds to monitoring alerts to quickly identify the root cause and implement resolution to avoid or reduce duration of an outage
  • Analyses issues and event trends and provides insight to allow continuous improvement
  • Communicates and coordinates system outages and resolution

 

Application Support

  • Review and author product documentation prior to new releases
  • Ensures compliance to Mango and/or Client SOPs, standards and all applicable regulation, identifying process improvements where possible

 

Documentation

  • Maintains up-to-date documentation for all supported systems
  • Maintains operational support documentation

 

Development Operations

  • Demonstration environments are maintained and documented in a manner which allows easy access to Mango staff as required
  • Maintain Installation & Configurations Guides, liaising with Project Managers and Quality Managers accordingly

 

Support Mango’s Sales Team

  • Participate in the pre-sale engagement process, by attending client meetings
  • Inputting into customer proposals
  • Providing accurate estimates during pre-sales process

 

General

  • Represent Mango Solutions when communicating externally
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in shell/bash
  • Familiarity with Linux (e.g. RHEL, CentOS, SUSE)
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting Linux configuration issues
  • Knowledge of Cloud hosting services (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Licensing
  • Excellent command of written and verbal English
  • Willingness to travel, and work at client sites is essential.

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of tracking systems (e.g. JIRA)
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Python, R
  • Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle
  • General customer support experience
  • Version control systems: Subversion/Git
  • Grids: Sun Grid Engine, Platform LSF
