Navigator
Mango has developed a NONMEM post-processing and reporting environment, initially for Roche, and subsequently for Novartis. The project is known as Navigator (though in previous incarnations it has also been known as ModReport and PopPKPD Reporting).
The target user group is Modelling and Simulation teams in pharmaceutical research and development although the application has been architected to be applicable to any data providing a generic framework for reporting.
Navigator is a multi-tiered database-driven web application. The application is database agnostic, and is currently supported using MySQL and Oracle together with a Hibernate management layer. The core engine uses Java making it platform independent and the user interface is built using Java Server Faces.
The application provides an environment in which to compare NONMEM outputs across runs in a tabular or graphical manner. The user interface is fully customisable allowing users to create their own favourite views on data. Reports can be produced in standard formats such as PDF and RTF. A suite of graphical and tabular report items, written in R, are provided within the system and the users are able to define their own report item definitions to add to the environment.
The application has been very successful because it:
- allows users to easily and securely share data and reports
- provides a standard method of generating graphics and tables
- provides automated substitution of graphs and tables into submission and exploratory documents
- allows users to customise the interface to provide dynamic views on data
